Foty Five years of religious dictatorship under the Islamic Republic is no short period of time for analyzing the reasons behind the failure to create widespread solidarity against this regime. Many believe that the time for the Islamic Republic to leave has long passed, but there is no alternative. In other words, the alternative does not exist. It seems to be a common agreement among the opponents of the ruling regime in Iran that no single party, organization, or individual can bring down the Islamic Republic on their own. However, the question of why the opposition cannot achieve strategic solidarity will be the subject of my lecture. To analyze and diagnose the “solidarity puzzle,” I will refer to two concepts:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One is the “leadership crisis” and the other is “collective action.” From the perspective of these two concepts, I will explore the reasons behind the lack of widespread solidarity within the opposition despite the common enemy (the Islamic Republic).
