Identity and Protest Movement: A Case Study of the 2021 Iran Protests<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abstract<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The formation of the identity of movements occurs in relation to others, and this formation of movements arises from differences in comparison to others, with these identity differences being accompanied by value judgments. The extent of poverty, corruption, unemployment, and political, economic, and social limitations in Iran, compared to more advanced societies in the world, has led to a sense of relative deprivation among the Iranian people. Therefore, the political actions of the Iranian people have taken the form of anti-government protests. This research employs a descriptive-analytical method and, utilizing the theory of social constructivism, seeks to answer the question: what identities constitute the majority of protest movements in Iran? In response to this question, the hypothesis of the study is based on the premise that these movements are of a feminist, student, worker, and freedom-seeking nature, and that with the solidarity and support of Iranians abroad, these movements are striving to have their voices heard in order to change the political system of Iran and improve the political, economic, and social conditions of the nation. The findings of this research indicate that whenever these movements are given the opportunity, they take identity actions to achieve their demands and change the existing situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La formation de l’identit\u00e9 des mouvements se r\u00e9alise en relation avec les autres et cette formation des mouvements se produit en comparaison avec d’autres diff\u00e9rences, et ces diff\u00e9rences identitaires sont accompagn\u00e9es d’une valorisation. Le niveau de pauvret\u00e9, de corruption, de ch\u00f4mage et les restrictions politiques, \u00e9conomiques et sociales en Iran, par rapport \u00e0 d’autres soci\u00e9t\u00e9s avanc\u00e9es du monde, ont donn\u00e9 \u00e0 la nation iranienne un certain sentiment de privation relative. Par cons\u00e9quent, les actions politiques de la nation iranienne ont pris la forme de protestations anti-gouvernementales. Cette recherche, utilisant une m\u00e9thode descriptive-analytique et s’inspirant de l’\u00e9cole structuraliste, pose la question suivante : de quelles identit\u00e9s sont compos\u00e9s la plupart des mouvements de protestation en Iran ? En r\u00e9ponse \u00e0 cette question, l’hypoth\u00e8se de la recherche est que ces mouvements sont de nature f\u00e9ministe, \u00e9tudiante, ouvri\u00e8re et libertaire, et qu’avec la sympathie et le soutien des Iraniens \u00e0 l’\u00e9tranger, ils cherchent \u00e0 faire entendre la voix de ces mouvements pour changer le syst\u00e8me politique dirigeant de l’Iran afin d’am\u00e9liorer la situation politique, \u00e9conomique et sociale de la nation.
