 <\/p>\n

I see us<\/p>\n

Still looking for a rainbow<\/p>\n

With our dresses<\/p>\n

Flowing in the wind<\/p>\n

And our platted hair<\/p>\n

Shiny and black<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I see us<\/p>\n

Still-<\/p>\n

Walking along the riverbank<\/p>\n

With our feet<\/p>\n

Rosy from the cold water<\/p>\n

And the sun<\/p>\n

Playing cheeky games<\/p>\n

In the honey of our eyes<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I still hear the swallows<\/p>\n

Nesting on our roof<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And our nights<\/p>\n

Fragrant<\/p>\n

With the kindness of Jasmine trees<\/p>\n

Continents apart<\/p>\n

-as we may be<\/p>\n

I still see us together.<\/p>\n

I have flown<\/p>\n

Through the icy clouds<\/p>\n

With the last of<\/p>\n

The immigrant pelicans<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I have swam upstream<\/p>\n

With the pink salmon<\/p>\n

In search of my destiny<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I have walked<\/p>\n

The barren desert<\/p>\n

On my bare feet<\/p>\n

With the last woman from the East<\/p>\n

Carrying the burden of our femininity<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We encountered the Christ<\/p>\n

At the first oasis<\/p>\n

We cried blood<\/p>\n

And ate bread<\/p>\n

And drank wine<\/p>\n

We compared wounds<\/p>\n

And shared kindness<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I have planted the seeds of life<\/p>\n

Into resistant soil<\/p>\n

And watered them<\/p>\n

With the blood flowing from my fingertips<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I have danced in life\u2019s festival<\/p>\n

But it was a gypsy dance!<\/p>\n

I had no home<\/p>\n

I flew away with the last crow<\/p>\n
